If you are at work today and can’t get off by 4:00 p.m. ET or can’t get in front of a TV by that time then I’ve got bad news for you – you may very well miss the beginning of the 2010 NLCS Game 3 between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Heading into Game 3 Tuesday afternoon, the Phillies and the Giants are tied in the Championship Series. In the first game the Giants took the Phillies in a victory of 5-4 but Game 2 on Sunday fell in the Phillies’ favor coming out in a victory of 6-1.
The Phillies will look to Cole Hamels to bring home the Game 3 victory. Through the regular season, Hamels was 12-11 with an ERA of 3.06. This season, the left-handed pitcher was 0-1 with an ERA of 7.36 – much less than outstanding – during his two starts of 11 innings against San Francisco allowing 16 hits and 9 total runs. Hamels definitely has his hands full with the Phillies in tonight’s game.
The Giants will counter with starting pitcher Matt Cain. Through the regular season, Cain was 13-11 with an ERA of 3.14. The right-handed pitcher was 8-4 with an ERA of 2.93 during his 16 starts this year at AT&T Park. He led with 223 1/2 innings, making this his fourth consecutive season that he surpassed the level mark of 200 innings. He also managed to walk 61, which is a career-low. In Cain’s postseason debut against the Atlanta Braves, he went 6 2/3 innings with no earned runs.
Both need to bring their best game and only the team with the best hitters and the best pitcher will come out on top tonight. So be sure to get your bets placed at Bodog or BetUS, two of the best sports betting sites:
