The Tim Tebow mania continues around the country with the highly anticipated showdown between the extremely popular second-year quarterback and New England Patriots’ superstar gunslinger Tom Brady just around the corner. As if Tebow’s popularity in the U.S. wasn’t at an all-time high after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime last weekend in the Mile High City, ESPN conducted a poll on the favorite athlete in this country and Tim Tebow was at the top of the list ahead of Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
Along with finishing ahead of Kobe Bryant and Aaron Rodgers, Tim Tebow was also voted ahead of Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) and Tom Brady (New England Patriots). This is a statement to say the least as this former Heisman trophy winner has taken the NFL and the country by storm and eclipsed some of the most popular athletes in the last decade.
Needless to say, Tim Tebow has become a superstar in the NFL and in the U.S. quicker than any athlete in the history of sports in this country. NBA legend Michael Jordan has been arguably the most popular athlete in U.S. history with the reputation of being the best basketball player ever to play the game, but Tim Tebow is becoming popular in a similar fashion and might be the most recognizable athlete in the world if he can do the seemingly impossible in the playoffs by reaching the Super Bowl and leading the Denver Broncos to victory.
In the AFC Divisional Round, Tim Tebow and company will take on the New England Patriots in what will almost certainly be the most-watched football game in recent history. This will be an intriguing matchup between two of the league’s most popular quarterbacks in Tim Tebow and Tom Brady.
