The NFL lockout is still very much underway and there is no set date for a return to professional football in this country, but that hasn’t stopped players from making headlines. The most recent star player to make waves is Terrell Owens of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Even though Terrell Owens hasn’t exactly been in the headlines as much as he has been in the past few years, T.O. made a big splash recently by undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL. Normally this wouldn’t be big news for a veteran wide receiver in the NFL, but this is T.O. and with the star wideout being 37-years-old near the end of his career and a free agent, the plot thickens.
Reportedly, the injury to Terrell Owens’ knee has been quite the mystery. The intriguing part of Owens’ injury is that he may have hurt his knee on the set of a show for VH1. If this turns out to be the case, a lot of teams around the league might throw the veteran wide receiver under the bus as he could be a big liability next season.
With that being said, Terrell Owens might struggle to sign with a new team once the league puts a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) into effect. Before last season, T.O. had the same problem before signing a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Now that the Bengals have no intention to re-sign him, the veteran wideout will be looking for work, but might have an extremely tough time in doing so.
Not only will T.O. struggle to find work before next season, but there will be plenty of other free agent wide receivers in the mix as well like Sidney Rice, Randy Moss, Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards. With this kind of talent available, teams around the league will have no shortage of talent available at the wide receiver position.
