New Orleans Saints (13-3)
The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints will have their championship team relatively intact this year, but they aren’t being given the credit they deserve as most people believe that both the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys will finish ahead of them in the NFC Conference.
Even though they might ultimately be destined to fail in their title defense, they will almost certainly come out on top in the NFC South as long as they can hold off the up and coming Atlanta Falcons. The NFL football betting sites have the Saints at -175 for winning the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons (9-7)
Last season was a nightmare for the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan and company may have finished with a winning record for the second straight season, but they still ended up missing the playoffs due to being ravaged by injuries all season long to their best players on offense.
This season the Falcons will come into the regular season healthy and ready to go, but even though they will be much improved, they still share the NFC South division with the New Orleans Saints and there only hope for a playoff berth is through the NFC Wildcard.
Carolina Panthers (8-8)
Much like many other teams around the league this year, the Carolina Panthers are on the verge of an extensive rebuilding process after losing arguably their best defensive player in Julius Peppers (Chicago Bears) to free agency and releasing veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme (Cleveland Browns).
Even though there is hope for the franchise with Matt Moore under center and rookie Jimmy Clausen backing him up, they will most likely finish with the same record as last season and may be even worse.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-13)
There are only a handful of teams in the NFL that have no hope for the upcoming season and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of them as they need to improve on both sides of the football.
