San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs Sun. Sept. 26th 1pm EST
The San Francisco 49ers came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of getting back on top the NFC West division as they were looking to take advantage of both the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks beginning a rebuilding process, but even though they were able to give the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints a run for their money on Monday Night Football recently, they have still gotten off to a disappointing start to the season with two straight losses.
Obviously, the 49ers were long shots to beat Drew Brees and company in Week 2, but they were almost guaranteed to hand Pete Carroll his first loss as the Seattle Seahawks new head coach and that didn’t even come close to happening as they were dominated by their division rivals 38-6.
There is no question that Alex Smith and company made some improvements before being beaten by the New Orleans Saints 25-22 in Week 2, but they have still gotten off to a rocky start with an 0-2 record heading into Kansas City to face the undefeated Chiefs.
Unlike the San Francisco 49ers, no one expected much from the Kansas City Chiefs as most people believed they would finish last in the AFC West division once again this season, but surprisingly enough they are looking like the best team in the division with a revamped defense and decent offense led by quarterback Matt Cassel.
Even though most people aren’t saying it, I believe this matchup between the 49ers and the Chiefs could very well be the game of the week as they two great defenses will go head to head while their up and coming offenses try to put some points on the board.
Ultimately, I think the 49ers will finally get that elusive first win, but it will be tough as the Chiefs defense will not be backing down an inch.
