Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Sept. 25, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
The battle for the NFC North division title begins this Sunday as the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears. With the Bears getting the best of the Packers in the regular season last season, Chicago has shown that they are a legitimate contender for their second straight division title, but they did lose in convincing fashion to the arch rival Packers in the NFC Championship game which left the Bears bruised and battered.
Heading into their Week 3 showdown in the Windy City, the Chicago Bears are coming off a disappointing loss to the New Orleans Saints in which superstar quarterback Drew Brees and company lit up Brian Urlacher and the Bears lockdown defense for 30 points. This loss shows that the Bears might still be a step behind the league’s elite teams, but the Packers didn’t do all that great in their Week 2 matchup against the lowly Carolina Panthers.
The biggest thorn in the side of the Packers in Week 2 was rookie quarterback Cam Newton after he threw for 432 yards and scored two touchdowns. Green Bay’s defense was able to pick off Newton three times, but the Panthers were still able to score 23 points and threatened to pull off the upset.
In Week 3, the Packers and the Bears will go head-to-head in what could be the game of the week with Chicago will be looking to avenge the loss in the NFC Championship game and the Packers trying to take control the NFC North to keep the 2-0 Detroit Lions at bay.
As of right now, the Green Bay Packers have the edge in this matchup with a -4 point spread in their favor and that is a pretty solid bet in my opinion.
Take the Packers at -4.
