Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos Sun. Jan. 1, 2012 4:15 p.m. EST
One of the most anticipated matchups in the last week of the NFL regular season will be Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos defending their home field in the Mile High City against Kyle Orton and his new team in the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the Chiefs are out of playoff contention, Kansas City has a great opportunity to end Denver’s season by handing them a loss with former Bronco Kyle Orton under center.
Not only is this an intriguing matchup due to the heated division rivalry between these two teams and the AFC West crown on the line, but there is a storyline underneath all of that with Kyle Orton looking to get some revenge against the team that waived earlier in the season. With Tim Tebow taking the starting role under center for the Broncos and Denver waiving Kyle Orton as a result, the veteran quarterback will almost certainly come into this game with some added motivation.
Despite the fact that the Chiefs will be motivated and ready for this AFC West division showdown on New Year’s Eve, the Broncos are without a doubt the better all-around football team coming into this matchup. Denver’s defense will be the key in this game as rookie Von Miller and veteran Elvis Dumervil will need to put constant pressure on Kyle Orton to contain this improved Chiefs’ offense.
Another key factor to a win for the Broncos is having Tim Tebow bounce back from his worst performance as a pro after throwing a career-high four interceptions against the Buffalo Bills.
As of right now, the Denver Broncos are favored to get the win at home with a -4 point spread. That is pretty much on the money in my opinion as Tebow will bounce back and clinch the division title.
