Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints Mon. Dec. 26, 2011 8:30 p.m. EST
The NFC South division title will officially be on the line in Week 16 with the Atlanta Falcons going on the road to the Super Dome in the Big Easy to take on the red-hot New Orleans Saints. With the Christmas holiday officially in the books, the Saints and the Falcons will be able to concentrate on football and playing arguably the most important game of the season for both football clubs.
Just a few weeks ago, the Saints were the road team against the Falcons at the Georgia Dome and both teams put on a show in arguably one of the best games of the season in the NFL. Both teams battled it out all season long and ultimately forced overtime. In the overtime period, the Saints were barely able to come out on top with a game-winning field goal.
With that loss on their home field still fresh in minds of Matt Ryan and company, the Atlanta Falcons will come into this NFC South divisional game looking to make a statement and hopefully punch their ticket to the playoffs. The Saints have already clinched a playoff spot coming into Week 16, but will not be backing down an inch to the division rival Falcons as they will be defending their home field as if the playoffs have already started.
Obviously, the Atlanta Falcons are the team with more to lose in Week 16 as a potential playoff spot is on the line, but it is hard to bet against the New Orleans Saints these days with Drew Brees and company playing as good as any team in the league right now.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints have been given the edge to get the win at home with a -7 point spread. Even though the Saints are more than capable of covering this, I believe the Falcons will make this another game won with a field goal.
