Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions Sun. Dec. 12th 2010 1pm EST
The Green Bay Packers came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of finally being able to dominate the competition in the NFC Conference and make their way to the Super Bowl with perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way, but even though they still might be Super Bowl bound at season’s end, they are trailing the division-leading Chicago Bears in the NFC North and will need every win from here on out.
In Week 14, Mike McCarthy’s squad will head to Detroit to take on the struggling Lions, but even though this lowly team has just two wins on the season, Calvin Johnson and company can put up a lot of points on any given Sunday.
As for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers and company have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL this season with almost 260 passing yards per game (6th in the league), but they are worthless in the ground game ever since their Pro Bowl caliber running back Ryan Grant went down with a season-ending knee injury earlier in the season.
Despite not being able to hurt opposing defenses in the ground game this season, the Packers have done just fine with Rodgers leading the way and guiding this team to nine wins this year. The Lions will almost certainly put up a bit of a fight in Week 14, I believe the Packers will still come out on top by a convincing margin.
As of right now, the Green Bay Packers are favored to come out on top with a -7 point spread. Even though that might be a bit high, this spread is a solid bet in my opinion.
