New York Jets @ New England Patriots Mon. Dec. 6th 2010 8:20pm EST
Arguably one of the most competitive races for a division title this season is without a doubt the New England Patriots and the New York Jets battling it out for the top spot in the AFC East. Even though there are still five weeks left in the NFL regular season, the Patriots and the Jets are neck and neck right now with equal records (9-2) coming into this AFC East division showdown.
Not only is this game extremely important for both of these teams as it will almost certainly determine who wins the AFC East division title, but it will also be played on the biggest stage on Monday Night Football.
Earlier in the NFL regular season (Week 2), the New York Jets dominated to the New England Patriots in their first divisional matchup as they came out with a convincing 28-14 victory. Along with taking control of the AFC East for the majority of the season with this win, the Jets also exposed the Patriots for their weak secondary.
Ever since their Week 2 loss to their division rivals, Tom Brady and company have only gotten better with every passing week and will come into this matchup with eight wins in their last nine games. Not only have the Patriots gotten back on track offensively, but their defense is starting to shape up and will have their work cut out for them this week against Mark Sanchez and company.
Even though both of these teams are amongst the elite in the NFL right now and almost certainly playoff bound this season, I believe the New York Jets will come out on top in this AFC East battle as their lockdown defense will be the key to victory.
