NFC Divisional Round: New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers

New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers Sun. Jan. 15, 2012 4:30 p.m. EST

Back in Week 13, the New York Giants squared off against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in a matchup that was predicted to be one of the toughest of the season for Aaron Rodgers and company. Even though the Packers eventually came out on top (38-35), no other team in the league had tested the Packers on both sides of the football the way the Giants were able to.

After that loss to the Packers in Week 13, the Giants kicked their late-season push into high gear as they won three of their final four games of the regular season and won the NFC East division title. Despite losing to the division rival Washington Redskins in Week 15 (23-10), the New York Giants were rolling and seemed to have finally hit their stride which continued into the playoffs.

In the NFC Wild Card game, the New York Giants were matched up against the Atlanta Falcons in what was thought to be a fairly even matchup. The numbers may have indicated this being an even matchup, the Giants proved that wrong by dominating the Falcons and going on to win in convincing fashion, 24-2.

This week will be much different for the New York Giants as they will be putting the season on the line against the Green Bay Packers who are looking to win their second-straight Super Bowl title.

As of right now, the Green Bay Packers are favored to advance to the NFC Championship game for the second year in the row with a -9 point spread. That spread is a little too large in my opinion as the Giants should give the defending champs a run for their money.
