After allegedly head-butting his wife, Evelyn Lozada, Chad Johnson was arrested and immediately released by the Miami Dolphins for the off-the-field altercation. As if the arrest and release wasn’t bad enough for Johnson, Lozada has now filed for divorce after the incident.
Johnson was married for only 41 days before Lozada filed for divorce following the ugly altercation in the car that led the arrest.
Despite all that has happened in the past few days, Johnson is keeping hopes alive of resurrecting his career in the NFL with what would be his fourth team of his career. Even though there are quite a few teams in the league that could use of a wide receiver of his caliber, it is uncertain if Johnson will be suiting up at any point in the 2012 NFL season or ever again for that matter.
Ironically enough, Ochocinco and Lozada were on the verge of filming a new reality show featuring the newly married couple. The show was called “Ev & Ocho,” but now VH1 has cancelled the series after all that has transpired.
After making an impression on the first episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks with the Dolphins, Johnson seemed to be ready to turn things around with a team that would’ve been more than willing to make him the number one option in the passing game. Unfortunately, the arrest derailed a comeback campaign for Johnson and may have ended his football career in the NFL.
Much like former teammate Terrell Owens, it seems likely that another team will take the gamble on Johnson either this season or the next if he’s able to put this all in his rearview. It remains to be seen if Johnson has anything left in terms of competing at a high level in the league, but we may never get the chance to see if he’d really turned the corner after a disappointing season with the New England Patriots.
