Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens Sun. Jan. 15, 2012 1 p.m. EST
Rookie quarterback T.J. Yates has been put into a difficult situation in which the Houston Texans will lean on him to get the job done in the NFL playoffs. Not only is this a high-pressure situation for any quarterback, but Yates has to do this after the Texans made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
Fortunately, Yates was able to get through his first playoff game with an impressive win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Even though Yates only threw 20 passes in the win over the Bengals, the rookie gunslinger was pretty efficient with 159 yards and one touchdown without any interceptions. Along with those impressive numbers, Yates finished with a 97.7 passer rating and may have given his team that much more confidence heading into the Divisional Round against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Cincinnati Bengals may have been a very good football team this season, but the Baltimore Ravens are another beast altogether as they are in the elite class in the NFL. The Ravens may be a streaky football team, but they are definitely a talented team on the verge of making the next step and contending for a Super Bowl title.
Despite being led by a rookie quarterback in T.J. Yates, the Houston Texans have arguably the best running back left in the playoffs in the form of Arian Foster. With 153 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Texans first playoff win, Foster proved that he can get the job done out of the backfield in the postseason as well as the regular season.
As of right now, the Baltimore Ravens have been favored to get the win in this AFC playoff game with -9 point spread. The Ravens will most likely get the win, but probably won’t cover.
