Sweet 16: Butler Bulldogs (8) vs. Wisconsin Badgers (4) Thurs. March 24, 2011 9:57 p.m. EST
Last season the biggest underdog throughout the entire NCAA Tournament was the Butler Bulldogs (8). With everyone doubting this Bulldogs squad, Butler (8) was able to defy the odds and make it all the way to the National Championship. Even though no one gave them a chance to compete against the Duke Blue Devils (1), this team took Coach K’s squad the distance and if that last second shot by Gordon Haywood went down, they would be the defending NCAA champions in this 2011 NCAA Tournament.
This season was pretty much the same deal for the Butler Bulldogs (8) as they came into the 2011 NCAA Tournament as a team that wasn’t thought to do much of anything and would almost certainly fall to a high seed early on in the tourney. Fortunately, despite being the underdog, the Bulldogs have been able to reach the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year after they were able to pull off arguably one of the biggest upsets of the 2011 NCAA Tournament against the number one seeded Pittsburgh Panthers.
With this big upset over the Panthers, the Bulldogs have become relevant once again as everyone believes that another historic run could be on the horizon for Butler (8). In the Sweet 16, the Butler Bulldogs (8) will face off against the Wisconsin Badgers (4).
This Sweet 16 matchup will be one of the most competitive during March Madness as both of these teams matchup well and will have their eyes on the prize on Thursday night. As of right now, the Wisconsin Badgers (4) have been given the advantage with a -5 point spread, but I believe the Butler Bulldogs (8) will continue to their winning ways.
Take the Bulldogs at +8.
