The Washington Redskins have gone through some drastic changes this offseason, but despite acquiring a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback in Donovan McNabb and a future hall of fame head coach in Mike Shanahan, the Skins seem to be on the verge of another big change by trading away arguably their best defensive player in Albert Haynesworth.
Before last season, the Washington Redskins were thought to have landed a really big fish in free agency by signing arguably the best defensive player in the league in Albert Haynesworth. Even though the Tennessee Titans had one of their best seasons in franchise history, they weren’t willing to sign Haynesworth to the kind of money he was demanding and the Redskins took advantage.
Even though the addition of Haynesworth was thought to be a huge upgrade to the Redskins defense last season, the defensive tackle turned out to be somewhat of a bust as he was dealing with injuries and never really felt comfortable in Washington’s defensive scheme.
Now heading into next season, Haynesworth has expressed his discontent with Mike Shanahan’s new defensive scheme and has demanded to be traded from the team.
This has been a big shock to the Washington Redskins as Albert Haynesworth recently was given a bonus of $21 million dollars. This was given to the defensive tackle on April 1st and a trade demand just a month and a half later seems ridiculous to say the least.
The agreement that Mike Shanahan has said they are now working on with Haynesworth is that he returns the bonus and the team will release him so he can sign with another team.

Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions or back to the Tennessee Titans
