2010 NFL Season Preview: AFC

AFC South: Indianapolis Colts (14-2)

Last season the Indianapolis Colts were arguably the best team in the league during the regular season as they won 14 straight games and basically conceded the last two games of the regular season in order to keep four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning and perennial Pro Bowl wideout Reggie Wayne healthy for the playoffs.

Even though the Colts lost to the Saints in the Super Bowl, most people believe the Sean Payton and company got lucky against Jim Caldwell’s squad and this season Indianapolis will look to prove it. We like the odds by the latest online sportsbooks that show the Colts at -400 to win the AFC.

AFC West: San Diego Chargers (13-3)

Despite struggling early last season, the San Diego Chargers went on a tear by winning 13 straight games heading into the playoffs and proving they were still Super Bowl title contenders.

Coming into this season, the Chargers will be looking to rookie running back Ryan Matthews (Fresno State) to be the missing piece of the puzzle in their hopes for a Super Bowl, but even though I believe this team will be better this season, they won’t be able to contend with the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs.

AFC North: Baltimore Ravens (9-7)

The Baltimore Ravens could be the most intriguing team in the AFC Conference this season as they seem to finally have the right players at every key position to contend for a Super Bowl title.

With the addition of perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin for quarterback Joe Flacco, the Ravens offense should be that much better this season and could give the Colts a run for their money in the postseason.

AFC East: New York Jets (9-7)

The New York Jets have become a popular pick in the AFC Conference to make it all the way to the Super Bowl as they have made key additions to both sides of the football with former NFL MVP running back LaDainian Tomlinson, former Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Santonio Holmes and former Defensive Player of the Year in Jason Taylor.

With all the added veterans in the mix in New York, the Jets will be a serious force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference, but will fall just short once again in my opinion.

AFC Wildcard: New England Patriots (10-6), Cincinnati Bengals (10-6)

This will be a close call as there are plenty of teams that will be able to compete for Wildcard playoff berth this season, but the two teams that have the best chance of doing so is Tom Brady’s Patriots and Carson Palmer’s Bengals in my opinion. When it comes to NFL football betting, the 2010 season looks to be prime for some great wagers and big wins.
