Little trade interest in according to Danny Ainge as he looks to make new deals for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen

Over the past half-decade or so, the Boston Celtics has been arguably one of the dominant forces in the NBA. With Celtics GM Danny Ainge pulling out all the stops and acquiring Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to play alongside Paul Pierce and rookie point guard Rajon Rondo, Boston were able to turn back the clock and become a perennial NBA title contender. Danny Ainge getting little interest in Boston Celtics Big 3

With the NBA trade deadline just a week away (March 15), the NBA trade rumors are starting to heat up around the league. One of the teams that have been surrounded by trade speculation and rumors as of late is the aging Boston Celtics. Now that the Big 3 of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are reportedly on the trading block in Beantown, the consensus was that a lot of teams would be interested in acquiring one or more of the future Hall of Famers.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for Celtics GM Danny Ainge as the Big 3 of Boston has gotten little interest thus far. All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo has gotten quite a bit of interest around the league from teams like the arch rival Los Angeles Lakers, but KG, Pierce and Allen may remain Celtics after the NBA trade deadline.

This may ultimately be the best move for the Boston Celtics as keeping the Big 3 might give them a chance to compete for a deep run in the playoffs. There is no telling just how much gas is left in the tank for this once Eastern Conference powerhouse, but the talent is still there that can help this team compete with the best of the best in the NBA.

If there were to be a blockbuster trade in the works and one player were to be headed out of Boston before the trade deadline it would almost certainly be Rajon Rondo at this point. With Rondo having the most valuable and getting the most interest around the league, there is no question that the Celtics will get calls all the way up to and on March 15.

The temptation might be too great for Celtics GM Danny Ainge to pull the trigger on a deal that brings some young talent in return.

Houston Texans re-sign Pro Bowler Arian Foster to five-year $43.5 million deal

Last season the Houston Texans finally hit a milestone for the struggling NFL franchise as they were able to clinch a playoff spot and the AFC South division title for the first time in the history of the NFL expansion team. This was a monumental achievement by a team that was considered to be a perennial underachiever in the AFC Conference just a few years ago. Continue Reading…

DeSean Jackson gets franchise tag from the Philadelphia Eagles

Without a doubt the most disappointing team in the NFL last season with high expectations before the season began was the Philadelphia Eagles. With Super Bowl aspirations heading into the season, Michael Vick and company were arguably the most talented team in the NFL and ready to take the next step by dominating the competition in the NFC Conference.

Unfortunately, despite signing and trading for multiple Pro Bowlers in order to make this team one of the best in the NFL on both sides of the football, the Eagles just never seemed to come together as the dominant force that everyone thought they would be. One of the biggest disappointments on the team was a player that was already on the team in wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

With Jackson cementing himself as arguably one of the best wideouts in the game just a year earlier, this was thought to be another Pro Bowl year for the up-and-comer as Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson would become one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the NFL. That two also never seemed to come to fruition with Vick getting banged up and Jackson not having the fire to compete due to the lack of appreciation from the franchise in terms of a new contract.

As an anticipated, the Philadelphia Eagles have put a franchise tag on DeSean Jackson and will be thinking about what to do with the elite wide receiver. It has been reported that there are three potential options here with the Eagles letting him play out the one-year deal ($9.4 million), negotiate a long-term contract or simply trade him while his value is still high.

There will be no shortage of teams interested in the wide receiver out of Cal with the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars all looking for help at wideout.

Is Pau Gasol still on the trading block in Los Angeles?

The one team in the NBA that has made more noise than any other this season in terms of trade rumors and certain players around the league being linked to a possible trade with this team is the Los Angeles Lakers. Rajon Rondo set to replace Joe Johnson in the NBA All-Star game

The 2012 NBA All-Star game takes place this weekend at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida and before Wednesday the rosters were pretty much set in stone for both the Eastern and Western Conferences. With the recent injury to guard Joe Johnson (tendinitis) of the Atlanta Hawks, one spot has opened up in the East.

One player thought to be an alternate if a player was injured was Johnson’s teammate with the Hawks in forward Josh Smith. With Smith playing All-Star caliber basketball right now and arguably one of the biggest All-Star snubs this year, the consensus was that he would fill the void if a player went down, but the fact that Johnson is a guard meant that they had to replace him with a guard.
