After another 40-point explosion by Kobe Bryant in the win over the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers were officially back on track with two straight wins at home. Unfortunately, the new winning streak came with a price as All-Star center Andrew Bynum went down with an apparent ankle injury. Continue Reading…
It has been no secret throughout the last couple of seasons that the Phoenix Suns are going nowhere and is on the verge of a drastic rebuilding process. With Steve Nash still an elite point guard in this league and with high value, the Suns still refused to trade him unless he asked to be dealt before the NBA trade deadline on March 15. The day has finally come where Frank McCourt is no longer the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. After last year’s nightmare of a season with fans calling for McCourt’s head and players thinking about a future with another ball club, the resolution has finally come to fruition with a familiar face and smile taking over from here on out. As perhaps the biggest disappointment of any star player last season, Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Ochocinco failed to have any impact on his new team after being traded by the Cincinnati Bengals to the New England Patriots. Despite the Patriot getting all the way to the Super Bowl and having another chance to win another ring in the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady era, Ochocinco was no part of it and failed to stand out all season long. During the NFL season last year, the Chicago Bears were a streaky team to say the least. They were coming off a season in which they won the NFC North division title and made it all the way to the NFC Championship game with quarterback Jay Cutler and up-and-coming running back Matt Forte leading the way. Unfortunately, they lost at the hands of the arch division rival Green Bay Packers who went on to win the Super Bowl. Continue Reading…
As arguably the most surprising team in the NFL last season, the San Francisco 49ers were able to come just one game shy of the Super Bowl under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. With everything and every player coming together at just the right time, the 49ers were able to be as dominant as any team in the league. The lockdown defense led by Patrick Willis was a big key to their success, but the offense was able to get the job done as well. Continue Reading…
Big news came out of the Mile High City on Mon. March 19 as it was made known that four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning has chosen to sign with the Denver Broncos. After meeting with the Broncos on March 9, the consensus around the league was that Denver was the favorite to land Manning. Despite efforts by the San Francisco 49ers and the Tennessee Titans, the perennial Pro Bowler decided that the Broncos were his next team. Continue Reading…
Last season the Detroit Lions burst onto the scene in the NFL by becoming arguably one of the most exciting and promising young teams in the league. Not only did the Lions have a breakout year with quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson having career seasons, but Detroit finally made it back into the playoffs for the first time since 1999. The first trade with a big-name player going elsewhere has been finalized with the Golden State Warriors shipping scoring machine Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. These weren’t the only three players involved in this deal as Golden State has included center Kwame Brown and forward Ekpe Udoh in the blockbuster. Continue Reading…
It has been almost a week since Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts decided to part ways and the plot continues to thicken with the four-time NFL MVP visiting multiple teams around the league in his search for the right deal and the right situation. There is no question at this point that Manning wants to sign with a team in which he can control the offense and seamlessly fit in.
The AFC Conference has been given the edge in this sweepstakes to sign one of the greatest NFL quarterback of all-time with the perennial Pro Bowler being comfortable playing in the same conference that he has played in during his entire NFL career. With that being said, NFC teams have taken a backseat as Manning continues his tour with interested franchises.
Even though Peyton Manning has dubbed the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals as his current favorites, the future Hall of Famer has not become content as he will now travel to Miami and Tennessee. The Dolphins have been interested in Manning ever since the debate started about whether or not he would return to the Colts. Miami will definitely try to make a strong pitch to sign him and help turn around the struggling franchise.
The Tennessee Titans on the other hand are a very familiar football to the elite quarterback. With Manning playing the Titans in the AFC South division more than any other team in the running for his services, the free agent might lean towards more similar surroundings in a division that will have a very similar schedule in comparison to the Indianapolis Colts.
Joining the Tennessee Titans might also appeal to Peyton Manning much like the Minnesota Vikings did for Brett Favre. A chance to play his former team two times a year might give him that payback factor.
